About Telewise

Question: What is powerline technology?
Answer: Powerline technology utilizes the electrical line to transmit data fast enough for home networking. It gains momentum as the networking industry attempts to find a "perfect" solution that has the best reliability/distance/price/performance/ease of use combination. For some, it is a technology "too good to be true", but the recent technology breakthrough has made it very viable and very attractive.

Question: How fast does your powerline technology transfer?
Anwer: Current HomePlug powerline technology supports achievable throughput rate at 10 Mbps. It is fast enough to carry audio and video signals throughout homes. Future HomePlug standards will continue to extend the technology to achieve higher throughput rate.

Question: What is HomePlug?
Answer: HomePlug is an industry consortium promoting a unified standard for the powerline networking technology. This consortium was formed in April 2000 and expects to release its first version of HomePlug power line networking standard in 2001. The consortium has more than 70 member companies within one year of its inception.

Question: What is the cost of setting up a Telewise home network? any special expertise required?
Answer: The cost of powerline networking devices is expected to be much lower than its wireless counterpart while offering similar convenience to the users. Telewise is delivering high performance, cost-effective power line networking devices that allow users to simply plug the devices into the power outlet and start to enjoy the benefit of a connected home.

Question: What home appliances will realistically be networked on the powerline in the near future?
Answer: Home networking enables users at home to share computers, peripherals, smart appliances, stereos, speakers, entertainment devices, and high speed Internet access to the world. HomePlug compliant power line networking ICs are expected to be first incorporated into PC-centric applications. Other consumer electronic applications will follow shortly as PC-centric HomePlug products start to gain market acceptance. All types of home electronic devices will potentially be built with HomePlug enabling ICs.

Question: Where can I find more information about powerline networking?
Answer: More information about the power line networking can be found in the HomePlug HomePage:

Question: What does Telewise do?
Answer: Telewise develops innovative home networking technologies and products. We support the HomePlug Alliance in making a unified power line home networking standard. Our engineering team continues to work on new technologies in achieving higher data rate for networking over existing power line. We also target to incoporate our home networking technologies to wireless applications.

Question: How to engage a strategic partnership with Telewise?
Answer: Telewise home networking ICs are designed to be integrated with PC, home gateway devices and consumer electronic appliances. In addition, Telewise also offers its technology for licensing to non-competitive partners.
